My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : Honors degree in applied marine biology: experienced marine tidal developer

I hold an honor's degree in marine biology and a masters degree in marine renewable energy. I have a strong scientific background performing environmental studies and development of marine tidal energy developments. I have previously privately tutored young adults from 12-18 years old. Whilst working towards my masters degree i was employed as a student ambassador with Plymouth University; trusted to teach and promote higher education to schools and colleges around England.
I am very adaptable and can either teach in a very structured format, or focus on a students specific area of need. The first teaching session focuses on the students needs, preferences and proffered teaching / study methods. I can use this information to tailor my teaching to your specific needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

In all my endeavors I strive for variety. My collegiate career at UC Berkeley involved strong academics, competitive athletics and International Study Abroad experiences. My degree in Natural Resources focused heavily on science, specifically ecology, and multiple-use resource management with strong math and social science components. I complimented my core studies with classes on environmental literature and art which helped develop critical reading and writing skills. I have previous tutoring experience with high school math as well as the continual phone-call tutoring sessions with my 17-year old sister, which include Chemistry, Math, History and English! A Little Bit About Me...

Science, especially biology and chemistry, has always intrigued me. Since I was a child, I had always known that I wanted to study biology. I received a BA in Biology in May 2006 from CU. During my studies there, I focused on chemistry and received a minor in French. My coursework is quite varied, and I have experience writing scientific papers, laboratory reports, research papers, and essays. Last fall, I taught an English class to adults in Mahahual, Mexico where I was volunteering.
I love meeting and interacting with new people, children and adults alike. I have extreme patience. I believe that it is imperative to make the student feel comfortable in the learning environment. My teaching experience includes traditional classroom single-discipline settings, as well as non-traditional field work, with students Pre-K to Secondary. I have lead (wildlife and water) research projects with students and teachers, and have participated on research projects with university professors, through Earthwatch and Keystone Science School. I was a museum educator at Boston Museum of Science and awarded "Rookie of the Year," teaching the concepts of air and flight to Elementary School Students. Using household objects to perform hands-on experiments is one of my strong-suits. After graduating from college with a BS degree in Zoology, I chose to serve for two years in the AmeriCorps. A large portion of my responsibilites were teaching in and out of the classroom on the importance of environmental stewardship. I recognized early on the amazing dynamics of teaching and the lives that were changed because of it.
