I have always loved traveling, learning about different cultures, history, ideologies and of course food and have traveled to over 16 countries and lived in 5, Germany, Israel, Egypt, Turkey and most recently México, where my Spanish speaking and ESL teaching journey began. I have significant experience in Mexican culture from teaching English for 5 1/2 years to learners of all ages from young children to adults. I am a graduate of both the University of Colorado and Adams State College. I hold a Master's degree in Secondary Education as well as a Initial Teacher's license. I have experience as a volunteer tutor in social studies and math, a paid tutor in reading, a student teacher, and as a substitute for the last year and a half. I also have experience as a mentor to young people through the YMCA.
My teaching style revolves around the specific learning needs of students because each person not only learns differently but has specific strengths and weakness. As teachers it is our job to meet the needs of all learners. I do not believe in presently material in one way, or one way all the time.

A Little Bit About Me...

While I was attending college I worked in child care with a variety of ages preparing lessons for enrichment. I also taught as an adjunct professor for adult ESL at Aims Community College. After finishing my degree, I taught for five years at Wiggins Elementary in 2nd and 6th grade. I was trained in FAST reading program as well as many others for teaching reading and math. For the past two years, I have been living in the country of Macedonia as a US Peace Corps volunteer. I really enjoy teaching. There's two things in particular I find especially amazing: The first is working with a student and hear them say, "Oh, that's what it's all about! I get it now." Seeing that sudden "click" when a difficult subject is suddenly clear is absolutely golden. The second is being able see the improvement they've made. My experience includes 25 years teaching experience in a variety of settings working primarily with elementary grade students.
