During the school year, I also taught a six week Saturday science experience to 4th -6th graders; then in the summer I taught at two different science camps. I have realized that the best test of whether you understand something is to be able to teach it successfully to another person. Though being prepared is not a direct part of the tutor-student interaction, it is absolutely necessary for the tutor to be prepared far beyond the basic level. My teaching style tends to rely heavily on humor and I really try to build a relationship with students that is fun for both parties. I am a Visual learner/teacher, I feel it is much easier to learn when being able to visualize what is happening. Many of the sciences happen at such a microscopic level that it may be hard to comprehend what is actually happening so with larger visual aides I believe learning is much easier and less stressful. I obtained a BA from CU at Boulder in 2004 in Psychology and Communications and I am now currently one year away from attending medical school.
