Patience is one word to describe my teaching style. My main objective is to work with students on goal-setting and then concentrate on how to meet those goals. My teaching experience includes several semesters of substitute teaching, and tutoring locally for 2+ years as a part-time job, dirived from volunteering as a tutor for family members and friends. As a tutor, it is my job to help students with whatever it is they are struggling in and turn their struggles to successes. I specialize in working with those who want to become better readers - comprehension, fluence, vocabulary, phonics and spelling are all key to becoming a better reader.

I am a strong believer in Humanistic learning. The teacher begins with the student's prior knowledge and likes and moves forward from there relating it not only to the study of the subject, but also to how the subject will be applied in real world situations. I have been working with students in a reading program at a Title I school for 2 years; working with second language students teaching them the English language. I have taught Math and Science for 4th and 5 grade using the Foss system. The Science program was a hands on experiments, writing and keeping a science notebook. Evaluations were given at the end of each lesson segment involving the Foss Systems. Taught 3rd grade all subject for 5 years teaching all subjects. I have been recognized for classroom management above expectations for the school. Students were taught with creativity and experience using hands on manipulatives and differenciated lessons. My mother language is Italian. I was born in Venice, Italy and i studied Language and Italian literature in Venice at the University Ca' Foscari,one of the most famous in the world. I can easily teach you Italian from age 5 to age 60. And i studied music too and I took the degree in cello, I have sing and play my instrument for many years at Il Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Now i'm looking for teach my Italian language because I'm a mom too so for me it's difficult to move out and work full time. 60 minutes of practice,learn new words, repeat the last lesson and enjoy the reading with fun story. I love reading and think that reading is the main key in successful learning. One of my ways to tech your child to read is reading outlaid (something that helped me when I had hard time in this area) and talking about what you just have read. I have tutored young kids before, mostly elementary school kids. I really like to educate and pass down what I know to the younger generation. I'm currently in high school, which may seem little bit weird, because not a lot of people trust teenagers to tutor their kids, but I believe that the closer in age you are to the child, the less scary you might seem and actually you can more easily understand what is the issue in your child's learning trouble.
