My teaching (and writing) philosophies are strongly connected to the unique needs of the professional adult learner; providing the tools necessary to succeed individually as part of an effective health care delivery team. I am known for being detail-oriented and organized in my work, and enjoy creating new educational materials and modalities involving students in active vs. passive learning. I believe that people learn the best when they understand the meaning and logic behind what they are learning. When a student can see a pattern develop they develop an understanding that can be universally applied to many different areas of study and life circumstances. Learning is different then memorizing. During college I worked for NMSU and CYFD providing two types of tutoring services. With NMSU I worked with fellow college students in classes that I previously passed, which mainly included Accounting and Math. With CYFD I worked with young mothers trying to obtaining their GED. I helped create good study habits and tutored them in all areas included in the GED; Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Science.
