I work for the client, and I begin by determining what would help them the most. Nursing students are notorious for not "knowing what they already know." Many times, within a few sessions, clients have gotten over the questions they find are formatted strangely, and once that is accomplished, progress begins very rapidly.
My teaching (and writing) philosophies are strongly connected to the unique needs of the professional adult learner; providing the tools necessary to succeed individually as part of an effective health care delivery team. I am a licensed Social worker with tutoring experience in and out of college. I have the most experience in tutoring Algebra and other math. I have a student now that I am helping with AP English who has dyslexia. I enjoy watching her grammar skills increase and her overall understanding of the concepts develop. I am great with any age individual and have the patience it takes to work with any kind of student (special needs included).
I believe that people learn the best when they understand the meaning and logic behind what they are learning. When a student can see a pattern develop they develop an understanding that can be universally applied to many different areas of study and life circumstances. Learning is different then memorizing.
