After spending a year in Illinois as a Brazilian exchange student in high school, I went on to work for General Motors in my hometown of Porto Alegre (Brazil) as an assistant to a branch manager. Among many duties I was also in charge of translating memos, letters and financial reports to and from English and Portuguese. After 15 years in that position I moved to Florida (USA) in 1993, where I have worked in a number of companies and acquired even more experience and knowledge of the English language.

I enjoy tremendously my interaction with pupils. I like to observe how their self esteem increases as they master difficult concepts. I help them tackle these concepts by introducing more efficient techniques and by presenting information from a different perspective. I strive to create a learning environment where the student is comfortable enough to ask questions, reiterating that it's OK to make mistakes and that my positive perception of them won't deteriorate regardless of how many they've made. In 1964 we settled down in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I completed my studies and passed in two open tests - Law and Portuguese-English. I am a Teacher and Lawyer in Brazil.
