After spending a year in Illinois as a Brazilian exchange student in high school, I went on to work for General Motors in my hometown of Porto Alegre (Brazil) as an assistant to a branch manager. Among many duties I was also in charge of translating memos, letters and financial reports to and from English and Portuguese. After 15 years in that position I moved to Florida (USA) in 1993, where I have worked in a number of companies and acquired even more experience and knowledge of the English language.

My teaching style is based on the premise that students want to learn and succeed. During 2005-2007 I participated as a Dual Language Elementary teacher (Spanish-English) at Palm Beach County's School District, FL. I served as a second grade teacher for the first school year and as a fourth grade teacher for the second period. In this innovative program I was in charge of two different groups of children who were completely immersed in Spanish during half of the teaching contact hours. For the 2008-2009, I participated as a Dual Language Teacher (Math and Science). I worked concurrently for 5th and 6th graders at a Charter School in Colorado.
