Hands on approach; very easy going
I have been substitute teaching for 12 years in various subjects with a diverse group of students. I have also been employed as a home bound instructor for students with illness and or discipline matters for 2 years for grades 8-12. I have been tutoring privately for 12 consecutive years in multiple subjects. I have a bachelors degree in English Literature and 33 credits of teaching education at the graduate level. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from Ithaca College cum laude, I completed my B.S. in Speech Language Pathology in 2 and 1/2 years. I was a business major my freshman year at Siena College and realized I would rather be working to help others then sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. I have volunteered in a kindergarten classroom for one year, working with groups of 4-5 children in learning centers. I have provided speech therapy for two clients under the age of 8 during my clinical practicum in Spring 2009 at the Sir-Alexander Ewing- Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style will vary depending on the class as a whole or the type of student I am working with individually. In order to be an effective teacher I have seen that I need to be flexible with how I present material to a student. If a student is visual I am able to create diagrams and use props to show a concept rather than only speak the material. Some students need hands on and things like manipulatives in math help create a concrete way to remember a concept, and this is also something I do. In my mind success as a teacher is largely based on the success of the student and I am able to figure out what a specific child needs and adjust my teaching style to that student.
