A Little Bit About Me...

Hands on approach; very easy going
I have been substitute teaching for 12 years in various subjects with a diverse group of students. I have also been employed as a home bound instructor for students with illness and or discipline matters for 2 years for grades 8-12. I have been tutoring privately for 12 consecutive years in multiple subjects. I have a bachelors degree in English Literature and 33 credits of teaching education at the graduate level. I have also worked summers at the YMCA with developmentally delayed adults and children.

After graduating from Ithaca College cum laude, I completed my B.S. in Speech Language Pathology in 2 and 1/2 years. I was a business major my freshman year at Siena College and realized I would rather be working to help others then sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. I have volunteered in a kindergarten classroom for one year, working with groups of 4-5 children in learning centers. I have provided speech therapy for two clients under the age of 8 during my clinical practicum in Spring 2009 at the Sir-Alexander Ewing- Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic. In 2006 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in History and English. In 2008 I received my New York State Teaching Certificate. Starting at the end of 2008 I became a substitute teacher in Liverpool Central Schools and in 2009 for Baldwinsville Central Schools as well. After becoming a substitute teacher I quickly honed many skills in order to be an effective teacher. My classroom management skills grew exponentially to ensure safety in the class as well as an environment in which learning was promoted. My teaching style expanded due to the different types of students. Also my knowledge of child development was stretched from working with students K-12 in integrated classrooms.
