I taught Kindergarten in Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, Virginia for 4 years. I taught 1st grade in Round Rock Independent School District for 2 years and then transferred to the position of Interventionist for 7 years where I worked with struggling learners and students with Dyslexia. I now work part-time at Rawson Saunders School in Austin as a Certified Academic Language Therapist.

Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I teach dyslexic students to become better readers, to be able to comprehend what they have read, how to become better at spelling, and how to write.

I use the Orton-Gillingham method. It is a multi-sensory approach. The multi-sensory approach helps students to learn in all the different ways our brain can learn. It is a highly effective teaching approach. I am a very patient teacher who encourages students to reach their full potential.
I have been trained by Neuhaus Dyslexia Center in Houston, TX. I have been tutoring students for two years, and absolutely love it! My desire as a dyslexia tutor is not to just teach students how to read, but to help them develop a love for reading! Prior to tutoring, I taught at St. Thomas Episopal School in Houston, for seven years. I received my Bachelors degree from Abilene Christian University in Interdisciplinary Studies. My focus was Eduaction and Exercise Science.

I believe in helping the students discover their own answers. Through patient discussion and problem solving the students will better understand the subject matter. It is important to take the time and listen to their problems so as to best understand how to achieve a solution. At times learning disabilities or other problems can require creativity in reaching the student. Through my years of working with teenagers I can achieve that creativity.
