Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I teach dyslexic students to become better readers, to be able to comprehend what they have read, how to become better at spelling, and how to write.

I have been trained by Neuhaus Dyslexia Center in Houston, TX. I have been tutoring students for two years, and absolutely love it! My desire as a dyslexia tutor is not to just teach students how to read, but to help them develop a love for reading! Prior to tutoring, I taught at St. Thomas Episopal School in Houston, for seven years. I received my Bachelors degree from Abilene Christian University in Interdisciplinary Studies. My focus was Eduaction and Exercise Science.
I use the Orton-Gillingham method. It is a multi-sensory approach. The multi-sensory approach helps students to learn in all the different ways our brain can learn. It is a highly effective teaching approach. I am a very patient teacher who encourages students to reach their full potential.

I have 16 years of teaching experience. I taught 1st grade in Charles County Public Schools in Waldorf, Maryland for 2 1/2 years. I taught Kindergarten in Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, Virginia for 4 years. I taught 1st grade in Round Rock Independent School District for 2 years and then transferred to the position of Interventionist for 7 years where I worked with struggling learners and students with Dyslexia. I now work part-time at Rawson Saunders School in Austin as a Certified Academic Language Therapist.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated in 2004 from the University of Oklahoma with my Bachelors in Business Administration. I regularly helped my fellow students survive the academic rigors of Business School. In 2009 I graduated from Texas Christian University with my Masters of Divinity. This degree was heavy in reading and writing. I have also worked for the last six years with teenagers, and as a result I have a great passion for working with them.
