A Little Bit About Me...

I have a strong desire to use my abilities and interests as a professional educator. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. I have a strong math, reading and social sciences core subject background. Since January of 2010 I have been serving as a substitute teacher in both Pueblo city and county school districts. This work includes providing one-on-one assistance to students who need additional support. I have also worked with students that have a variety of disabilities, from pre-school through high school. More About This Tutor...

With so many years of experience, I have watched educational trends come and go and come back again! My own style is simple and has served me well with all levels: discover the student's passion and build on it through reading, writing, research, and talking to him/her. I have never worked with a student who doesn't want to learn. Resistance is usually fear of failure. I love the challenge of figuring out how each student learns.
My teaching experience has been diverse. I have taught fifth grade through college level, and I have taught in different areas of English: grammar, writing, literature, speech, reading,etc. I have tutored elementary students in reading and writing. I currently teach composition at the community college level to mainly non-traditional students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very adaptive. I accept challenges warmly. I love working with children; I teach at my church at the elementary level weekly. I also enjoy working with adults in a non-threatening way. I am a patient person and know that learning can be fun if presenting correctly.
I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I learned to easily adapt to various learning styles, learning barriers, and researching subjects. While still in the service, I utilized my lunch breaks and evenings to further my education and emerged with my AA and completed Nurse Assistant training while still serving and my BS only one year later; two months after retiring.
