A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all students can learn in different ways. As a teacher, it is my job to reach my students at the level where they currently are. It is also mu job to reach students in a way that is the most effective for that particular student. For example, some students learn more effectively verbally, while others are visual leathers.
As a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas, I began teaching at W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas, Texas. At Samuell, I taught freshman English to inner city kids. Over the course of the 2 years I taught at Samuell, I used my passion for education and language arts to make lasting connections with my students. After the Army moved my husband to Colorado, I began working at the Fort Carson Education Center as an instructor of math and reading. I am very adaptive. I accept challenges warmly. I love working with children; I teach at my church at the elementary level weekly. I also enjoy working with adults in a non-threatening way. I am a patient person and know that learning can be fun if presenting correctly.
I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I learned to easily adapt to various learning styles, learning barriers, and researching subjects.
