A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style starts usually with a question to spark and interest, or perhaps another question. I idenify with the audience and that is extremely helpful. I am patient and enjoy when a student finds confidence by learning something new. I use some props and examples to aid a particular subject, and I speak English very well so there is no miscommunication.
I am interested in working again as a Mathematics Tutor, I've had a very enriching previous experience from former employers at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where I've obtained two degrees, a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.S.B.A. in Economics. I love education and working along with others. I'm very passionate in continually cultivating myself and growing, in fact, my last employer hired me to teach English in Taiwan! The students do the work but you are the one who reaches their inner core to pull out their ability to achieve. For each student you must find what motivates them and press those buttons. Three teachers impacted my life not only as a result of the content of their classes but in their delivery. All three approached learning as an adventure. Even though the topics ranged from sixth grade mathematics to fluid dynamics each teacher keyed their presentation on the reception of the students. If the first presentation didn’t get the topic across an alternative presentation was made, often in a humorous vein. Students were never allowed to feel inadequate. Many of the students I trained were sent by their employers. So often, the student’s frame of mind wasn’t the most open to the learning experience. When working towards my teaching certification I was in many classrooms from Kindergarten to 12th Grade in Pueblo School District 60. After graduation I applied and got a teaching job and I taught at Skyview Middle School in District 49 for 4 years teaching Ancient Civilizations. Before that I was a substitute in District 8, 2, 3, 60, 48 all southern Colorado school districts.
I am a holistic teacher who likes for students to experience the subject. For example I would have student immerse themselves into the subject of history and complete a project and present it to the other students. It was really successful and had students waiting all year.
