Composition is one of my top subjects! As the child of a novelist, there was an extremely heavy emphasis on composition in my education.

My comments on tutoring Composition : With a 50 year background in the administrative field, I am a super expert in tutoring/teaching English Composition.

I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. My specialty is literacy and reading, but I am also adept in teaching all of the math curricula as well. I also firmly believe that teaching organizational skills and proper research methodologies are very important for the classroom today--and every child needs these skills in order to excel in the classroom and survive. My comments on tutoring Composition : I took ENG 111 and 112, college english classes, in high school as a duel enrollment class. I also took survey of American literature my first semester of college. In all three classes I wrote many papers and got good grades on all of them. I also had to write a 25 page term paper and received an A on the paper. I feel that I have very good and experienced writing composition skills. I receieved and A in all three classes.

What I try to do first is get the student to work out the problem, and as they are doing that I will work the problem as well. We will go over our answers together so I have a chance to explain the problem to the student. I believe that repitition and practice makes perfect as long as you have someone to explain it along the way. I will thoroughly explain the problem to the student if they don't understand it. By the end I would hope that the student could then explain how to do the problem to me.
I am now a sophomore at Germanna Community College. I have taken Algebra, Biology, English, Contemporary Mathematics, and various psychology courses. I am continuing to take more math and science classes. As a high school student I took Algebra I and II, Biology, Duel Enrollment English, and various other courses. I believe in incorporating multiple methods of teaching language, and with such a complex topic as learning a second, or even third language I also believe in tailoring said methods to the student's specific needs. For example, if one finds a kindred with music, introducing them to french songs would be one of the stronger ways to accomplish fluency and language recognition.
