I am a writer of prose and poetry and encourage students to be creative writers. I have taught grades 3 and six as part of my internship in Messina, New York. I tutored third grade children in remedial reading as a private business. After raising my own children and working in industry I returned to teaching. I taught ESL to adults in Boston, MA and as part of Literacy,Inc in Escondido, CA. I have tutored third grade students in reading as part of Oasis Program. I currently home school a third grade boy in all subjects. My students have enjoyed my classes and found learning can boost their confidence. I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher.
