It is a step by step hands on learning that I normally use when the student demonstrates that they have learned the material and can put it to use, I then introduce the next step. Broad experience in accounting from small business (where I wore all hats including HR to TB reconciliation) to finding my place in a huge corporation; have trained my replacements (even those who had no prior knowledge of debits and credits or what a BS or IS means) which I have always done successfully. I have technically never "taught" but have trained many.
My approach to "teaching" is very personal; education is not a "one size fits all" project but comes from many sources--books, talking, hands on experience and much more. I just passed the CPA last November 2009 after studying on my own full time. In my last job I worked as a General Ledger Accountant for a manufacturing company.
