My comments on tutoring Accounting : I taught accounting at Ohio University and Remington College. I passed the AICPA exam in 1969 (first try). I have four years experience as a CPA with Ernst & Young. I have four years of experience at MPI. I do my own accounting and taxes for my Company.

Punctual - prepared and professional. I look at learning rep. styles of students (pictorial, word or kinesthehic). I try to make the learning experience as painless as possible (especially math). I start with pre-tests to gauge where a student is at, then follow-up with teaching content and finish with a post-test to gauge learing objectives that have been met. Depending on the subject, I like to schedule 2-2.5 hrs ateach session. I also like to work out problems for students and e-mail them the results, where applicable.

I have a Bachelors degree in Economics. I also took the core accounting courses for the Bachelors of Accounting degree of Cleveland State University. I just passed the CPA last November 2009 after studying on my own full time. In my last job I worked as a General Ledger Accountant for a manufacturing company. I basically did the month-end close for their new acquisitions and did the account reconciliations as well. I also documented the accounting procedures of their new acquisitions. Part of my job was to explain these processes to the rest of the staff in the main office.

After earning my accounting degree I worked as an accountant for the University of Akron. Before taking early reirement in 1997, I taught remedial math to the university freshmen approximately five times between 1992 and 1997. During this same period of time, I also worked as a reading tutor for Project LEARN of Summit County. In 2005,I began teaching undergraduate-level history course for Kent State University as I was working on my dissertation. The courses I taught included Early American History, U.S. Modern History, Ohio History, History of World War II, and History of the Vietnam War.
My teaching style is largely inter-active. For math courses, I try to lead students to a better understanding of the principles involved. For history courses, I try to encourage students to analyze, assess, and, if they don't agree,challenge orthodox interpretions of historical facts.
