I learned the majority of it from teachers and professors, but the rest of it I learned from my training as an SAT and ACT instructor. As you know, both exams test students on virtually every grammar rule, ranging from the correct use of punctuation to vocabulary, subject-verb agreement to incorrectly using redundant language. I literally could go on and on, but the point is that I scored in the 99th Percentile on both the SAT & ACT, and along with well-written and grammatically-sound essays, was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Southern California. The way I teach is very simple. I explain my teaching style using the analogy of a mother bird teaching her baby how to fly. The mother guides her baby, teaching it, showing it the ropes of life, and when it comes time, the baby flies off on its own with no help. This is quite similar to how I teach and tutor children.
