After completing my biology and chemistry degree, I volunteered for 18 months in impoverished areas in California. Following this I decided to start teaching. While at Utah State University I completed both a Masters program and a second undergraduate program simultaneously. I am currently licensed to teach high school science. In 2003 I traveled to India where I began work in a village in the South teaching English and Sociology to 4-11th graders. The experience was incredibly rewarding and was a wonderful vision into the complexities of education and culture. Due to this multi cultural experience I feel that I have a great skill in reaching students with multi ethnic backgrounds, and understand the discrepencies between written and spoken language.
I feel that in teaching my goal is to effectively reach all children. Individual care and attention are the most effective ways which I feel a child can be persuaded to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

My career in education began while attending CSUN. I started as a paraprofessional at a charter school, and also was able to teach my own elective classes. I graduated with a BA in Deaf Studies, with a concentration in Language and Culture. After moving to northern California, I worked at a college as an ASL interpreter. I went on to teach ASL at a private High School in San Francisco for 3 years. I am currently teaching Deaf students at the high school level. My educational background and specialty is primarily Deaf Ed. and ASL, however, I have a well-rounded knowledge of various subjects that I have used in education over the last 6 years.
