A Little Bit About Me...

Languages have been an essentiasl part of my life. Having spoken English and Spanish as a child, I added French after living and studying numerous years in France (French high School) and Switzerland. I added German at the University (this is my least used language) but traveled quite a bit througout South America for International work. Besides English , I speak French and Spanish on a weekly basis if not daily.
Teaching is not my career, however, I have taught young children through 6th grade many years ago using a spoken system followed up by TV. Children learned the meaning of the words in context without having to translate each time. It was a fun interactive experience. This gave them a feel for the intonations and pronounciation of the language and a good sense of what they were communicating from repetition and use. In college prepatory high school, I was on the Honors Math track which gave me intense training in high school and college mathematics as well as Upper level science such as Physics. In college, I earned a Bachelor's degree in English literature and a minor in Hawaiian Studies. While earning a BA, I completed 60 credits of prerequisite courses in Elementary Mathematics, English, Physical Eduction, and teaching techniques. There are no bad students, there are bad teachers. Once I had an argument with my University teacher who wanted us to prepare an exercise but did nothing to get our interest in it. I argued because his words were: “It is my job to get your interest to learn” But in that case he didn’t follow his principle at all. I won an argument and he cancelled the task. Other thing I would never bring to my students is the attitude of being Superior. It doesn’t help if you want to make a contact with your student. Everybody learns in their own ways so a Teacher supposes to find a right way to present information and get the interest.
