I have been teaching and tutoring people in computer usage for over 20 years now. I also used to teach computer programming in the mid 80's. I have a good understanding of mathematics and physics. This is important stuff to learn, so I like to give an overview with specific examples on how this will apply in their everyday life. Then we go over the basics. My teaching/mentoring/tutoring style is tailored to the student. I do not believe their is a generic teaching style that will help all students. Most people I have worked with have difficulty understanding a couple of key points and once that obstacle is overcome learning accelerates until the next obstacle is reached. Following my graduation from UHH, I was a substitute teacher and tutor for ESL students for 5 months. I have worked students coming from all types of backgrounds. Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions.
