I will be graduating from the University of Dayton with a Master's of Education degreee and I have a Bachelor’s degree in History. I love History and want to teach Social Studies in grades 4th-9th. I want to make a difference in the lives of people. I have been a substitute teacher for grades K-12 and have worked in special education classrooms. I want to help children and adults learn and be the best they can be. I have worked with students and adults with special needs, emotional needs, and educational issues.
I learn visually and by reading the subject materials. I teach by showing students what they need to know by reading and using visual aids in my teaching style. I incorporate technology in my teaching because some students are hands on. I teach students in groups and individually.

I graduated from Dayton Christian High School back in 2007. I am currently attending school at the University of Dayton seeking my bachelors degree for Sociology. The most important thing to me in teaching anyone anything is finding out what level they are currently at. In order to learn something, take something in and understand it, one must have something already to attach it to in their minds. In my 6 years of teaching experience I’ve come to find out that there is no such thing as a “stupid question.” Each child or adult has a specific way of learning according to their own character. That’s the reason some are faster to learn mathematical concepts while others are faster in literary concepts. I believe in going slow and asking my students to explain what they’ve learned in their own words. If they can do this easily it means they have mastered the concepts. I usually encourage pre-reading before tutoring sessions. A student who has read the chapter ahead will absorb information more easily than one who has not read ahead.

I love teaching and working with others, especially children. I first like to start with finding out where the child is confused by going over and re-teaching past assignments that were misunderstood. I like to go over past tests and make sure they understand what they missed and teach them the correct answer. I believe that this is very important so they can grasp future material.
