Throughout my Bachelor's and Master's degrees I tutored students independently. This helped me develop a wider range of approaches with which to help different students learn. When considering my teaching style, it is difficult to explain a single process for teaching. When working with different people it is important to remain creative, inventive, and patient. Every person has different learning styles and it is important to recognize in that person what helps them understand more fully. Whether it is diagram and pictures, breaking a complex problem into many simple parts, comparing similar examples that are familiar to the person, or simply taking the time to make sure that the child feels comfortable saying "I don't know". All of these are useful tools, but in my opinion by far the most important is patience. Remaining patient when someone doesn't understand is the absolute most important thing. A Little Bit About Me...

Since I am a visual learner, whenever applicable I like to visually bring the material to life. It is important to me that the student understand the concepts and be able to convey that understanding without having to refer to the textbook. With this in mind, I will go through the concepts with the students and follow that up with asking them to explain everything back to me. I have found that one of the best ways to learn a subject is to teach that subject.
