I develop most of my lesson plans using GLAD principles. I like to use multiple senses, student interaction and various resources to keep the student active. When teaching a language, it is important to know the basic grammar structure first, and then speaking and listening follow. I work with people with disabilities, teaching them how to canoe with a company called Wilderness Inquiry. The company's motto is: Anyone, anywhere, anytime, any place. As far as teaching style, I think it is important to listen to what the student really needs and adapt your teaching style based on their needs. I've learned with math especially, that you need to work a lot of different problems. However, I usually like to have the student take me through the steps as best they can and then I step in to help or possible show a simpler way to solve the problem. Tutoring is not about your own agenda, it is about the student and what the tutor needs to do help them understand. I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. My main interests and degree lie in medical sciences.
