I'm a math minor at the University of Montana, and I've been tutoring at the Math Learning Center there since I was a freshman. I have experience tutoring with all of the classes listed, and I learned a lot of them from different institutions so I can help give a new way of thinking about the subject.
I try to teach conversationally and help students get comfortable with the process of doing the problems over just giving the answers. I tend to go with asking questions as a default--I've found it really helps learning, especially with classes like math that are more about understanding the process than regurgitating answers--but during those times we all have when you have no idea where to start, I'm happy to explain it out! During my years at Rocky Mountain College, I not only gained my degree in Literature with a minor in writing, but I also began teaching. As a student, I tutored an adorable foreign exchange student for a semester. I also served as a senior editor to the student publication Soliloquy, in which I selected, edited, and arranged writing pieces in the journal.
