Experience Summary
I have a BS in Wildlife Biology, with honors, which gives me an excellent background in math and science. I have worked as a wildlife field technician over the last four years including a position with the Northern Divide Grizzly Bear Project. I have volunteered for the Watershed Education Network, a non-profit organization that educates young students about the importance of water quality and introduces them to stream monitoring science. In the spring of 2010, I volunteered for the Missoula International School (MIS) as a middle school math tutor. I worked with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, helping them with their daily math exercises and providing chaperone support for various field trips.
Teaching Style
I strongly believe that teachers can influence the passion and understanding a student will have for a subject. While my early teachers had varying styles of educating, I remember the teachers that honestly cared about their subject and inspired me to pursue a career in science. As a math tutor, I understand that children develop at different rates and some find math very difficult to learn. However, with the right amount of patience, positive attitude, and extra attention, these individuals will progress at math and may discover new abilities that propel them to succeed in academics and life. I am a dedicated, considerate tutor that will put in the extra effort that it takes to provide high quality teaching.
