My AA in Early Childhood helped me to understand how the brain develops and how people learn and how to utilize the stages of development in educating people. As a parent concerned about the condition of the public school system we decided to homeschool our last two children. I began teaching them in the first grade and have continued up to, and including, the present time. My son is now a high school freshman and my daughter is in the eighth grade. During this time I helped start a homeschool cooperative. We wanted to continue homeschooling our children, but we also wanted to provide them with more choices taught by someone experienced, or having an expertise in an area. The parents, myself included, taught a wide variety of classes. I have taught english, history, reading, poetry, Bible, math, science, spanish, cooking, and music.
