A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently an employee for the MCPSS. My current title is Intervention Teacher/Special Education Teacher at Semmes Elementary School. In this position I serve students who are struggling academically and behaviorally. I implement lesson plans and teach utilizing strategies and teaching styles base upon students’ interest and learning styles. I teach one to one, small group, and whole group lessons. I have taught all grade levels in the elementary setting. I currently work with students grades K-3. During the last 4 years I have participated in the after school program, providing tutoring services to struggle students in the areas of reading and math. I am a high school teacher of 25.5 years. I graduated from Mobile College with a Bachelor of Science degree, and from Alabama State University with a Master's degree, both in education. My experience has been working with students that are academically disadvantaged. I have tutored elementary students in reading and language for over 10 years. It is my ultimate goal to see that each student strengthens/increase their areas of weaknesses in reading and language.

I have always loved to work with children. My job while in college was teaching children at a learning center. I also have tutored several children throughout the years that were having difficulties in either math or English. I have a strong background in math and English, but also have experience in psychology, sociology, and science. I believe a child can achieve whatever they put their mind to, but some times they need a little push to achieve that.
