I graduated with a 3.9 from Whitworth College in 1979. I taught a 1st/2nd grade class for three years. My teaching certificate is not current. I home schooled my 4 children- the oldest through 8th grade. My second son had a learning disability. I spent many hours researching the best methods of teaching him to read. He made the deans list his first quarter in college! I recently taught adults how to do enumeration for the 2010 Census Bureau. I lead a club for middle school students. Since I was in college at Eastern Oregon University I have enjoyed working with children to educate them and foster enthusiasm for the sciences, especially chemistry. As an active member of the chemistry club at EOU I volunteered in dozens of elementary chemistry demonstration in the LaGrande OR area. I also participated in summer chemistry camps during this time. After graduation I have voluteered at area high schools during national chemistry week for the local chapter of the American Chemical Society.
