Carol K. - Richland, WA 99354 (29.4 mi) - College Algebra Tutor - $22.50/hr.
Tutored for 28 years My teaching style is to listen to the student and let them try to work the problem out. If they can't figure the problem out, I give them a similar example to follow and let them use that problem as a model. There is normally a protocol or steps to follow in math. I lead them through the steps using that example. Then they go back to their original problem and normally can do it better. Other subjects require reading like history or economics. I ask them to go back and look more carefully at their reading if they can't get the answers to their questions. In English, I teach them grammar rules and the structure of the 5 paragraph essay. Academic Tutor: I assist students in learning their academics. Some are homeschooling where I help cover all subjects. Others are college students and cover one or two subjects.

Catherine P - Richland, WA 99354 (31.8 mi) - College Algebra Tutor - $34.50/hr.
I have spent 13 years working at Pacific Northwest National laboratory. During this time I have gained experience with several different types of chromatography systems and various mass spectrometers. I have developed several methods for sample analysis drawing on my chemistry experience. I have authorship on several peer reviewed journal articles and have written one book chapter as well. Since I was in college at Eastern Oregon University I have enjoyed working with children to educate them and foster enthusiasm for the sciences, especially chemistry. As an active member of the chemistry club at EOU I volunteered in dozens of elementary chemistry demonstration in the LaGrande OR area. I also participated in summer chemistry camps during this time. After graduation I have voluteered at area high schools during national chemistry week for the local chapter of the American Chemical S

Souleymane A - Richland, WA 55425 (35.4 mi) - College Algebra Tutor - $36.50/hr.
Teaching is one of my hobbies I enjoy the most. I always believe that one grows in knowledge by teaching to others what one knows. Since High School, I have been involved in tutoring my peers and my junior in Math, Physics, English, and French. When I was a student at Bellevue College, I tutored a number of students with their French assignment.
Even though French is neither my first language nor my second language, I received my High School diplomat in a French school. Therefore, I'm writing, reading and speaking skills is advanced
Moreover, I love tutoring students who are from low-income family. I volunteered my time at my local community helping children in Math. As a new graduate, I learned the most updated software and hardware compatible with the growth of IT industries. During the school year, I acquired a strong knowledge base through my course work and extensive experience

Andrew B - Kennewick, WA 99337 (43.8 mi) - College Algebra Tutor - $39.00/hr.
As a graduate from University of Idaho, I was very much driven to reach a higher level of excellence in education, leadership, and support of my peers. I have earned a BS in Chemistry, which has allowed me to gain an understanding in many levels of science, not only how in how to learn but how to adapt those lessons for others. During the last eight years, throughout high school and college, I have tutored students in Engineering, psychology, mathematics, chemistry and biology. While much of my tutoring and teaching came through the University, I was also the Inter Fraternal Council study table coordinator, which required finding a way to teach a lot of non-science majoring students as well. I love teaching and working with all students. I believe everyone can learn, no matter the difficulties faced in the past or present. I educate on the belief that because everyone is unique, everyo

Michael M - Kennewick, WA 99337 (45.1 mi) - College Algebra Tutor - $36.00/hr.
I have 2 years experience in tutoring high-school and college-level math and computer science (programming and database design) while studying computer science in college from 1996-1998. During that time I also taught small classes in computer usage (email and internet) at the Kennewick Senior Center. I later earned a bachelor degree in math at Portland State University in 2004, participating in study groups there. My recent work experience was in help desk, drafting, and geographic information systems. I like to start tutoring students by determining what the student's strengths and weaknesses are and building a strategy from there. When a student doesn't understand a new concept, I like to go through every step of the process with them to figure out where the stumbling block is, using a variety of ways to explain the concept to assess which strategy works best for each student.
