Achieved a vast array of educational experience as a substitute teacher by working in all grade levels and in all subjects including special education. Experiences gained in the following school districts: Algonac, Brown City, Carsonville-Port Sanilac Croswell-Lexington, East China, Marysville, Peck, Port Huron and Sandusky. Guest Teaching for four weeks from November 26, 2012 thru December 21, 2012 for Jeff Downs. Classes covered; 7th grade Geography, 8th grade U.S History, 9th grade U.S. History and 10th grade World History. All classes are mixed with both EI and CI special education students with no special education co-teacher in the classroom. I have a deep passion for learning, and it's always my goal not only to help students learn skills but to find their inner motivation too. I currently work as a substitute teacher, and I appreciate the chance I have to see the best of what teachers and paraprofessionals are using in the classroom and how they help their students. I have much experience students of all ages with their homework and projects as a nanny, babysitter, and older sister of four. Confidence creates an interest in learning

When working with an individual student, my teaching style is to focus upon the student and create an individualized plan for how the student learns. I first look to see what kind of learner the student is, whether he/she is a visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or any combination of these learning styles. I am then able to formulate an approach for genuine learning. The next step is to ascertain what the student difficulties are in the subject matter and where the core of the difficulties may lie. I use a variety of teaching styles while instructing students. Alternating between styles helps to keep minds engaged and participation at a maximum. When covering content I use many examples that relate to real life, that way students can relate it to something they have experienced or seen. I also like performing small-scale experiments and labs. I will use power point presentations as well as the overhead for drawings, notes, and discussion.
