A Little Bit About Me...

I have a deep passion for learning, and it's always my goal not only to help students learn skills but to find their inner motivation too. I currently work as a substitute teacher, and I appreciate the chance I have to see the best of what teachers and paraprofessionals are using in the classroom and how they help their students. I have much experience students of all ages with their homework and projects as a nanny, babysitter, and older sister of four. I was also a certified therapeutic riding instructor, so I taught individuals with disabilities to ride horses. I was a top student myself, and I have a B.A. in English with a minor in history. Achieved a vast array of educational experience as a substitute teacher by working in all grade levels and in all subjects including special education. Experiences gained in the following school districts: Algonac, Brown City, Carsonville-Port Sanilac Croswell-Lexington, East China, Marysville, Peck, Port Huron and Sandusky. Guest Teaching for four weeks from November 26, 2012 thru December 21, 2012 for Jeff Downs. Classes covered; 7th grade Geography, 8th grade U.S History, 9th grade U.S. History and 10th grade World History. All classes are mixed with both EI and CI special education students with no special education co-teacher in the classroom. My experience in education has been wide and full of variety. I began working as a linguistics tutor for the university. I worked with several students over the course of the two years in which I worked for the department. I began my field work at Mt. Morris Junior High School performing my observations. I completed my student teaching at Lapeer West High School, before graduating with a BA in Secondary Education. There, I taught English 12, Mythology, and, perhaps most beneficial to my experience, Literacy Skills, where I was able to work with many students with diverse reading and age levels. I currently work for the Lapeer Family Literacy Center.
