Understanding the psyche of the student is of prime significance to me, which helps me in directing the teaching strategies and techniques. In order to let the student realize the significance of learning, I try to design a curriculum that is application based. I prefer that the student understands the purpose behind learning. As an elementary school teacher, I have experience teaching children to read. For 3 years I worked in schools as a reading professional with children whose reading skills were below grade level. I have also worked as a private tutor in math and reading. I have extensive knowledge of teaching phonics, using appropriate reading material to establish reading fluency, and helping children achieve mastery of critical reading skills. I believe that positive reinforcement is the most effective way to motivate a student to learn. Each child must learn to identify his or her strengths and use those strengths to solve problems.
