Experience Summary
As an elementary school teacher, I have experience teaching children to read. For 3 years I worked in schools as a reading professional with children whose reading skills were below grade level. I have also worked as a private tutor in math and reading. I have extensive knowledge of teaching phonics, using appropriate reading material to establish reading fluency, and helping children achieve mastery of critical reading skills.
Teaching Style
I believe that positive reinforcement is the most effective way to motivate a student to learn. Each child must learn to identify his or her strengths and use those strengths to solve problems. I believe guided practice is necessary to establish support for students as they are learning until they ultimately can perform tasks independently. I am very clear and thorough with my students and I have high expectations that each child will succeed.
