I have worked with all different ages of students, from 3rd grade to college, and enjoyed all of my experiences. I find that no matter who the student is I enjoy teaching and helping other, helping an individual to not only grasp concepts but develop a stronger self confidence in their learning. I have earned a BA degree in Family and Child Development and an MA degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, I hold a valid Ohio teaching license for grades P-3 and have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. I am currently an Administrator for a latch-key program, and for many years have tutored students in various subjects. One of my passions has been volunteering for Ohio Reads, a reading program which allows one-on-one time with students who need extra reading help. Being from the area and having worked in education my entire career, I have a good understanding of the needs of today's student. I currently work at a local University where I see firsthand the struggle underprepared students face. I am an experienced educator having taught every grade level from preK through college.
My style of teaching is adaptive for each individual student when possible. Each student has their own way of learning and it is my job to adjust to that. I graduated recently in Elementary education, so I have a broad knowledge in all subject areas. I got in the top 15th percentile on the Praxis content knowledge test. I am well-trained in different teaching techniques as well as Elementary content because I have substituted in classes from special education, to kindergarten, to sixth grade in small group and whole class.
