As a Hiram College student I feel I have gained a great deal of knowledge through a combination of learning from excellent instructors and having a variety of teaching experiences. I student taught tenth grade for a semester during my senior year of college at West Geauga High School. This experience was very valuable and prepared me for working with students in a variety of ways. A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a BA degree in Family and Child Development and an MA degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, I hold a valid Ohio teaching license for grades P-3 and have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. I am currently an Administrator for a latch-key program, and for many years have tutored students in various subjects. One of my passions has been volunteering for Ohio Reads, a reading program which allows one-on-one time with students who need extra reading help. I have also tutored students in middle and high school.

My style of teaching is adaptive for each individual student when possible. Each student has their own way of learning and it is my job to adjust to that. I try to meet the student where they are right now and devise a plan to fit what they want to do and accomplish the goals that they set. I treat each student with respect and expect the same in return. I am flexible and understanding, but I will push the student to achieve their potential.
Being from the area and having worked in education my entire career, I have a good understanding of the needs of today's student.
