As a Hiram College student I feel I have gained a great deal of knowledge through a combination of learning from excellent instructors and having a variety of teaching experiences. I student taught tenth grade for a semester during my senior year of college at West Geauga High School. This experience was very valuable and prepared me for working with students in a variety of ways. I have a degree specifically in English Education and am trained to teach and tutor in all areas of Language Arts, including reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and grammar. I graduated recently in Elementary education, so I have a broad knowledge in all subject areas. I got in the top 15th percentile on the Praxis content knowledge test. I am well-trained in different teaching techniques as well as Elementary content because I have substituted in classes from special education, to kindergarten, to sixth grade in small group and whole class. I have also tutored students in a college Biology class, one-on-one, and tutored friends when they needed it. I have also taught piano lessons for two years to various students.
