I graduated suma cum laude from Claflin University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2004. From there I took a long term substitute position in an elementary school. During this time, I became a tutor in the school's EAA after school program where I worked exclusively with at-risk readers. Upon leaving that position, I was hired to teach a group of at-risk sixth graders. I taught ELA and a reading recovery class. I also tutored in the EAA after school program.
