A Little Bit About Me...

I strive to understand the underlying concepts in every piece of mathematics I do. I wish to inspire a similar understanding in my students by asking questions that provoke them to reach for, and obtain the answer for themselves. Answer keys, or too much help is never beneficial in the long run and math is a requirement for every college degree. It is never too early to start building a strong foundation based on a thorough understanding of core concepts.
After several changes in intended career direction and four years of general education with an pre-engineering emphasis, I have earned my associates degree and transfered to the University of Oregon as a pre-math major. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching experience has all been in volunteer roles. I taught Sunday School class and Youth Group at New Hope Church in Bend for grades 5 through 12. I have recently applied for and been accepted as a mentor in the Deschutes County COPY (Central Oregon Partnership for Youth) program, and have gone through a 6-hour mentorship training program as a requirement of the program, in addition to fingerprinting and a criminal background check. My Bachelor of Science degree gave me a strong math background, and I have significant experience in writing technical documents, and proofreading reports.
Learning is like a puzzle or a code, and I enjoy the reaction of students when they finally solve the puzzle, or decipher the code. A Little Bit About Me...

So far, I have gained insight into the inquisitive and intellectual critique of humanity in studying anthropology at the undergraduate level. My studies opened me to living as well as working abroad, excavating archaeological sites in Chile to teaching PE and history in Honduras. I tutored students ages 7-53 in subjects such as English as a second language, history, cultural anthropology, and Spanish. Teaching in Honduras culminated my tutoring experiences in a formalized, calendar based lesson planning.
