A Little Bit About Me...

I generally start with the basics to try and figure out where a student is experiencing any gaps in their knowledge. Once I can fill in those gaps, I feel that students generally start to get the bigger picture and can put together the more complex information on their own. I am a guide for students. I do lecture some but I expect the students to really think hard about problems they encounter in the material and try to work them out as much as they can before assistance. The idea is to have them prepared for an examination and not feel like they need me as a crutch.

I have taken calculus 2, calculus 3, linear algebra, physics 1 with calculus, and I am currently taking differential equations and Intro to advanced math- logic and proofs. Each class I have passed with an A and a B in calculus 2.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry and Journalism. I am confident that I can tutor in any subject, especially chemistry, physics and calculus. I took AP physics in high school and I also received straight As in calculus while in college. Right now I am a research assistant at the University of Miami's Institute for Human Genomics, and I am also a teacher for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. With Kaplan, I teach SAT and GRE classes. In high school I tutored students in Algebra and Spanish for two years. Although I did not tutor in college, I was the news editor of The Miami Hurricane, the university's student newspaper. I worked with university administrators and staff, students and other editors on a daily basis. I also taught a class every other week for one UM professor. I am a hands on learner myself and I believe children at a young age learn by interacting and play, such as teaching them a song to remember a quote or a math problem. I enjoy making learning fun for children and I believe by intriguing a child it will decreases their boredom levels in school and with learning. I have been told that I have a true passion for helping children and that is not something you can teach some one, it just comes naturally. I am very patient and understanding when it comes to working with children, and I believe that is the only way you can be when it comes to children and molding their minds.
As a psychology major I have realized that my true passion lies in the education of children, I have worked with children in the past at daycare centers and day camps, and I have always taken the extra step in helping children who seem to struggle. I truly believe th ... read more

I like to teach by taking it step by step. My personal development taught me the importance of a firm grasp on each individual step in the learning process. Ideas and concepts tend to build on top or branch out from each other. Therefore, I believe that it is essential that using problems solving skills become routine.
I attended the Florida State University in Tallahassee and completed a BS in Chemical Science in four years. During my last year of studies, I tutored chemistry and biology. I've taken many college course in math, chemistry, and biology. In this past year as a professional Advanced Learners tutor, I have helped students in physics, chemistry, algebra II, calculus, and college algebra.
