This problem is abstract and challenging to some people. Thus, I rephrase it to, "If you have 7 quarters in your pocket, how much money do you have?" By making the problem more relatable to the student, the problem suddenly appears easier and less intimidating. A Little Bit About Me...

I generally start with the basics to try and figure out where a student is experiencing any gaps in their knowledge. Once I can fill in those gaps, I feel that students generally start to get the bigger picture and can put together the more complex information on their own. I am a guide for students. I do lecture some but I expect the students to really think hard about problems they encounter in the material and try to work them out as much as they can before assistance.
