While earning my bachelor's degree, I worked in several tutoring programs assisting students with reading comprehension and writing composition skills. I taught grammar to small groups, read one-on-one with third graders and assisted junior high school students with their homework assignments. I have been involved every year since 1975 in the work of an educator, mostly for pay, but occasionally as a volunteer, either community- or faith-based, in three states and two foreign countries. Leadership was usually demonstrated in teaching for proprietory institutions in curriculum development and in the processes of actual recruitment. In fifth-grade teaching of English language learners, my class for two semesters won the highest attendance record for 3rd-5th graders in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The bachelors degree I received in English Literature and Spanish allowed me to spend two years serving as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador. There, I became fluent in Spanish and decided to return to the United States to pursue degrees in both Elementary Education and teaching English as a Second Language. As a Black African American I am driven to see that there are more diversity in the accounting and education field. Right now the number of minority students that are actively seeking degrees in this field are limited and I would like to be a positve influence in the field to get more students in the minority race to get involved. I have earned a degree with my BS in Business Administration Economics
