I love teaching because I love learning. I understand that people learn in different ways, and part of what I find most interesting as a teacher is to look at a problem from different perspectives to find the solution that will make the most sense to a particular student. I look for ways to make the subject accessible to the child, and furthermore, I try to draw connections to the child's life and interests to make the subject matter feel more relevant. A Little Bit About Me...

Having been raised by two teachers, education has always been an important aspect of my life. One of the most important aspects of education, I feel, is determining the most effective learning style for oneself and being able to study and process information using that method. I do not believe that there is a child that is "unteachable," rather I trust in the fact that once a child has the necessary skills to process information the way it makes sense to them, every child has the capability to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I started tutoring as a result of my knowledge base and the needs of the young people I worked with. My first tutoring experience was with a young man who was studying pre-calculus. Since then, I have tutored in upper level mathematics, history and social studies, English composition, and basic sciences. I had a position as a history and social studies teacher for five years in a private school, and have also taught adult education and GED prep.
My approach to education is extremely individualized. My students have taught me that we all learn differently, and that success is always reachable with patience and persistence. I find that creativity and a variety of approaches to learning are the keys to making this success happen.
