A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Henderson State University with a BA degree in sociology and since then I have worked in residential treatment facilities as a therapist, a teacher, and tutor or councelor. I am currently a CASA volunteer in Fayetteville, assisting children who need advocacy in the court system. I have been a freelance writer here in Fayetteville for many years and have had much of my writing published. I am very patient and reassuring to students and wait for them to get the answer on their own when tutoring mathematics. I show them how to do it first, then let them try, and then re-explain. We would continue this repetitively with different problems until they can do it independently. It is also important to listen very carefully as to what they are saying.
I have extensive experience in mentoring minors and persons with intellectual disabilites for 3 years. In highschool and college, I regularly tutored highschool and college students in algebra, highschool chemistry, and english.
