I have never been paid to tutor someone. My experience is limited to helping my mom with math problems, that deal with algebra based questions. I have helped her with her homework, the questions she received wrong when she gets her tests wrong, as well as explaining how to solve a particular problem. "See one, do one". I like show how to do an example, then i would like the student to do a similar example on their own.

My teaching style centers on relationships. I feel that it is essential to build a relationship with each student, and with their family, as well. Truly knowing a child allows you to understand their strengths and areas of growth, and helps identify ways to reach that child where they are and help propel them further. I am well-versed in many strategies used to differentiate instruction, and have applicable experience using these skills with a variety of age groups. I focus on positive reinforcement, so that students feel encouraged and supported as they tackle content, with the appropriate level of support and modifications. As a student I was always helping my friends and brothers with their school work, especially math. While in graduate school working on my Masters degree I tutored for the athletic department and even tutored some of my classmates who were college professors working on their PhD's. I have been a college teacher for more than 5 years and started doing private tutoring over 2 years ago. Teaching style varies by student and by subject, and even varies according to my level of skill in the subject matter. I have basic experience tutoring and helping students with homework or concepts they didn't grasp well. Mainly helped out in math subjects as they are easier to explain with concepts and derivation so nothing just gets thrown out of nowhere and the student understands how it came into being. The students I tutored ended up making grades with a high B and above. An easy concise approach for the student to gain a better understanding of the subject.
