Experience Summary
I have been working with children for many years, in a variety of experiences. I have been a nanny for children ages 3 months - 10 years, and have served as a mentor in multiple settings. I have just recently completed my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies/Special Education with a Minor in Human Development and Family Studies. I have student taught in Kindergarten, Fifth Grade, and for a full-year in Second Grade. I have accepted my first teaching job and will begin this Fall, teaching Second Grade in Lubbock Independent School District. I think that each child is unique and special, and so very capable! I am excited at the prospect of helping students realize and reach their potential.
Teaching Style
My teaching style centers on relationships. I feel that it is essential to build a relationship with each student, and with their family, as well. Truly knowing a child allows you to understand their strengths and areas of growth, and helps identify ways to reach that child where they are and help propel them further. I am well-versed in many strategies used to differentiate instruction, and have applicable experience using these skills with a variety of age groups. I focus on positive reinforcement, so that students feel encouraged and supported as they tackle content, with the appropriate level of support and modifications.
My Hobbies
I have many hobbies! I am an avid reader, and have been since I was very young. I also enjoy dancing, baking, crafting, and spending time with friends and family.
