A Little Bit About Me...

I have two years tutoring experience. In college, I tutored college students who struggled with math (algebra, trigonometry, calculus, etc). Other experience I have is derived from having taken and successfully passed (A) those courses I can tutor. I also help and tutor students who would like to learn how to play piano by ear, chords (major, minor, diminished, augmented), hear a song and determine chords, accompanying a singer, etc. I have experience in playing piano by ear for churches from almost 2 years. I occasionally play piano/keyboard in a band setting.

Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. Helping a student learn is more than just teaching them a lesson in math, science, or English; it’s about being someone that they can look up to as a role model, being someone that they can learn from in more than just an academic manner, and being someone who is there for them when they need something. A Little Bit About Me...

Children are our heritage. Children have an innate desire to learn and I believe that with proper guidance, each child can be successful. I endeavor to determine what the child is interested in learning and build from there. Education is a very high priority in our family and we encourage others to further their education, whether it involves college or study on one's own, in order to better themselves.
I began homeschooling my children in 1993. My older son was in 8th grade, my younger son was in 4th grade, my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten, and my twin daughters were 2 years old. I taught one year at Zionsville Community High School, where I taught Algebra I, Prealgebra, and Basic Math. I currently teach at Tri-Central High School, where I have been for nine years. I teach AP Calculus AB, Precalculus, and Geometry. I have also taught Algebra I at Tri-Central. I have had experience tutoring, both in high school and college. I have tutored students in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and AP Calculus AB.
I have a very strong passion towards teaching. While many teachers tend to go towards adminstration afters 10 years of teaching, I have no desire to go that route.
