A Little Bit About Me...

During college, I changed my major several times, taking numerous classes for each one to determine what I wanted to do with my life. I experimented with Political Science for two years, in which I took classes in criminology, speech, and history. My next year of college was spent in English and Writing, where I focused on the obvious, as well as classes in psychology. The last few years of my college experience, where I ended up graduating with a Bachelor’s in Finance, were based around all of the science and math classes that Ohio Dominican University had to offer. I have also worked in multiple management positions where I was responsible for interviewing and training countless employees.

I assist the Reading Center Directors in assessing area public school K-12 students at-risk in reading and writing. The information is used to identify areas of literacy strength, as well as areas of need. I design and implement differentiated one-on-one instruction based on individual student needs, and conduct formative assessments regularly to determine student progress to share this information with the parents and schools.
I have earned two bachelors degrees, BS in Accounting and BA in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Reading. I have also earned a Masters in Business Adminstration. I began homeschooling my children in 1993. My older son was in 8th grade, my younger son was in 4th grade, my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten, and my twin daughters were 2 years old. My older son graduated with 2 bachelor degrees after spending a year in France as an English teacher in a high school. My younger son graduated with a double degree and a minor. Both are currently in grad school. My oldest daughter will be returning to school next year after a 2-year leave. My twin daughters will begin college in the fall. Homeschooling has enabled me to keep abreast of current learning as well. I have tutored 3 students in the last year, all three in algebra and the one student in geometry, too.
